New Energy Futures Paper launch

On Thursday 28 November Vector’s New Energy Futures Paper on Batteries and the Circular Economy was launched in Auckland, along with a Technical Addendum. The paper is a culmination of research instigated by Vector and carried out by Eunomia, ThinkStep, Forum for the Future with members of the original Battery Leaders Group (now part of B.I.G.). Many businesses, industry bodies and organisations contributed to the Paper which includes NZ and international case studies.

The paper outlines the challenges of the current ‘linear’ (take-make-waste) economy for lithium-ion batteries and the commercial and innovation opportunities for Aotearoa if we transition to a circular economy. The Paper provides the circular economy vision and context for B.I.G. to ensure the product stewardship scheme B.I.G. designs is safe, inclusive and circular.
