Draft collection guidance for small batteries

As a complement to the B.I.G. project a Lithium Ion Batteries (LIB) working group has been established by the WasteMINZ Health & Safety Sector Group. The aim of the group is to highlight the dangers of putting handheld lithium ion batteries into household recycling and rubbish bins. Guidelines to setting up the collection of handheld batteries have been drafted by the LIB to help retailers and councils set up collections to make it easier for householders to dispose of these batteries safely. The guidelines can be viewed here.

To find the most sustainable solutions we must turn to the waste hierarchy.
